World-class Equipment, Expert Team & Real-world Training | 2025
At Commercial Divers Academy (CDA) we give you more than classroom theory — we give you the tools, the environment and the people you need to become a confident, job-ready commercial diver. Our campus is equipped to replicate the full range of professional diving operations across maritime, oil & gas, industrial and port sectors. From dry welding bays to diving bells, from live boat deployments to controlled contaminated-water drills, CDA prepares you to perform under real conditions so you arrive on site ready to work.
Comprehensive technical & diving equipment
Training with real, industry-standard equipment is essential. CDA maintains a complete inventory of technical and diving systems so students can learn on the same tools they will use in the workplace. Familiarity with professional gear shortens the learning curve on job sites and builds the confidence employers expect.
What our equipment enables you to practice
Access to professional systems lets you train in the full task cycle — planning, rigging, deployment, execution and post-job reporting. You will practice tasks such as rigging lift bags, hot work preparation, cutting and welding set-ups, underwater inspections, diver rescue scenarios and life-support operations. This practical exposure is what turns a competent sport diver into a professional who can be trusted on commercial projects.
Our instructors & training team
Equipment alone isn’t enough — experienced instructors are the multiplier. CDA’s teaching team is made up of industry professionals: professional commercial divers, dive supervisors, welding and cutting specialists, hyperbaric physicians, first-aid instructors and safety officers. Their combined operational experience in ports, shipyards, salvage operations and offshore platforms feeds directly into our curriculum.
Profiles of our training team
- Senior dive instructors: veteran commercial divers and supervisors who have led complex inshore and offshore operations.
- Technical specialists: certified welding instructors, NDT/inspection coaches and tool-handling experts.
- Medical support: hyperbaric physicians and trained first aid/AED/O₂ providers supervising health, fitness and emergency procedures.
- Safety & operations staff: experienced boat masters, tender teams and life-support technicians who run realistic drills and ensure regulatory compliance.
Practical training — real sites, real scenarios
Practical training is delivered across a wide range of environments to mirror the real challenges commercial divers face. We run exercises in the sea, in freshwater, in low-visibility conditions, inside ports, and at aquaculture and industrial sites — so you’ll be prepared for the environments you’ll find in professional assignments.
Training locations and exercises
- Open sea deployments: offshore transfer procedures, umbilical management and long-duration surface-supplied dives.
- Port and harbour work: hull inspections, propeller and rudder maintenance, mooring and fender work.
- Low-visibility & confined spaces: search, recovery and non-visual tool techniques.
- Salvage & lifting drills: lift bag rigging, salvage planning and controlled recoveries.
- Underwater construction practice: pile, concrete repair preparation and subsea fitting tasks.
- Contaminated water simulations: safe work procedures, decontamination and health monitoring.
Certification — industry-ready and internationally recognised
Graduates from CDA receive certifications that demonstrate both theoretical competence and applied skill. Our programs are designed to align with international industry standards and employer requirements so you can pursue commercial diving roles domestically and abroad. Certification from CDA signals to contractors and hiring managers that you are trained to operate safely, effectively and professionally from day one.
